Practice Areas

Thomas L. Tarolli (1935-2006) began the practice of Intellectual Property Law in 1961 with the firm.  During his years in the firm he worked in various technologies including printing presses, machine tools, circular knitting machines, metal casting, differentials, air bags, seat belts, hydraulic power steering systems for vehicles, and medical devices.  Mr. Tarolli specialized in prosecution of United States patents and patents in foreign countries.  He became a named partner in the firm by 1968.  The firm grew over the years under Mr. Tarolliís direction to become one of the most respected intellectual property law firms in Northeast Ohio.

Mr. Tarolli prosecuted several United States patents that were litigated through trial, and held valid and infringed.  During his tenure, Mr. Tarolli also handled a number of interferences, and was involved with appeals to the Federal Court from the U.S. Patent Office, litigating in the Federal District Courts, and a request for Certiorari to the U.S. Supreme Court.

Mr. Tarolli graduated cum laude from the University of Pittsburgh in 1957 with a Bachelor of Science Degree in Industrial Engineering.  He obtained his law degree in 1961 from George Washington University.  While attending George Washington University, Mr. Tarolli was a Patent Examiner in the United States patent Office.
