Intellectual property, and technology protection with a focus on patent law

Rod has experience writing and prosecuting United States and foreign patent applications for electrical and mechanical inventions as well as with blockchain and distributed computing technologies. He has also performed patentability analysis and drafted patentability letters. In addition, Rod has experience with trademark prosecution, trade secret protection, copyright law and has conducted trademark and trade dress infringement analysis.

His notable experience includes:
  Writing and prosecuting patent applications for advanced weapons and electronic systems for a national defense contractor
  Writing and prosecuting patent applications in computer hardware and software in technology fields; as well as in the electric and mechanical engineering fields
  Working in the engineering design profession for 15 years at several companies including Intel, Cisco and Compaq
  While at Intel, Rod was one of the original designers of the Pentium Dual-Core microprocessor which was a completely new microprocessor designed over a three-year period and that initial ran at 4 GHz.  The Pentium Dual-Core microprocessor was also the first multi-threaded, superscalar microprocessor able to retire several instructions each clock cycle.  Rod initially designed a portion of this microprocessor at a high architectural level using a hardware descriptive language similar to Verilog before designing logic at a submicron individual transistor level
  While at Cisco Rod designed application specific semiconductor (ASIC) chips for wireless 802.11 LAN access points including implementing advanced encryption standard (AES) and other cryptographic algorithms in hardware within ASIC chips
  Rod was a lieutenant in the U.S. Navy and held U.S. Secret as well as NATO Secret security clearances
